about me

I'm Chelle Mullen...
...the multi-disciplinary heritage craftswoman - jeweller and loriner - behind Storm & Grace.
Predominantly a fine jeweller of over 15 years experience, a lifelong passion for horses lead me to specialise in heirloom quality horsehair jewellery, and later to add custom lorinery to the work I offer.
I approach each job using the fundamental principles and skills of fine jewellery - craftsmanship, creativity, meticulous attention to detail and the finest quality materials.
In this increasingly polarised world, dominated by Artificial Intelligence and mass production, and where nature has become a casualty of the global drive for wealth, dominance and convenience at any cost, I choose to preserve my crafts - and my soul - by doing things the old fashioned way, and keeping my personal ethics - honesty, integrity, tradition, sustainability, respect and kindness, at the very heart of my business.

sustainability matters to me
It's fair to say, the traditional jewellery industry doesn't win too many prizes when it comes to matters of environmental awareness and sustainability. And while tradition matters to me - so does the planet.
So I work hard to reduce the environmental impact of my crafts and my business, whilst maintaining the highest quality craftsmanship.
I work only with reputable UK suppliers whose ethics and integrity match my own. Gemstones are responsibly sourced, and I only use recycled sterling silver and recycled or Single Mine Origin gold. I recycle all of my brass. Where possible I have swapped out harsh chemicals for more eco-friendly alternatives, all of my packaging is sustainable, and I strive to keep all waste to it's absolute minimum.
I'm a pledged maker with both the Green Maker Initiative and Fair Luxury, to not only be held fully accountable for my business practices, but also to continue to improve them.
craftsmanship matters to me too
I'm very proud to be a member of Heritage Crafts, as a practicing Loriner, which is an endangered craft.
Whether you're commissioning fine jewellery, horsehair jewellery or lorinery, you can be certain of a job done to the highest possible standards, using traditional artisan skills.

when i'm not in the workshop...
...I can usually be found outdoors, in the company of my pony, surrounded by wildlife and immersed in nature. More often than not, it's during these quiet times when creative inspiration dawns, technical problems are solved, and new designs are imagined.
