Barefoot Hoof Pick

This double ended tool, unique to Storm & Grace, has been created specifically for use on barefoot horse's hooves.

These tools are an absolute game changer when transitioning horses to barefoot, when hooves are soft and those pesky bits of stone and grit get jammed in there.  They're also incredibly useful and versatile for the routine daily care of unshod hooves.

The round tapered end is perfect for removing those pesky bits of stone and grit.

The flat end is ideal for cleaning out cavities, for example seedy toe, large cracks and separation.  It is also ideal for applying hoof clays and putties to these areas.

They are hand made to order by me in your choice of metal - brass, tool steel, or stainless steel, and housed in a turned hardwood handle.  To change the tip, simply unscrew the collet, turn the tip around and re-tighten the collet - it literally takes a few seconds.

Brass is useful for very weak, fragile or crumbly feet, as it is softer than steel.

Tool steel and stainless steel are equally strong, so both are suitable as an every day hoofpick.  Stainless steel is less prone to rusting.

The whole thing is small enough to fit in your hand, giving excellent comfort and control, and they'll easily fit in a pocket or belt pack, for on the yard, out on hacks or in-hand walks.

I make these to order - allow a week to ten days during busy times, but usually turnaround will be a couple of days.
